He has rebuilt his own body three times

Bryan has rebuilt his own body three times. Six years on the US Ski Team, a broken back at 18, and later full reconstructive hip surgery with a warning that he might never ski again. The following year he was back on the mountain, competing and coaching with the United States Ski Association.

Later, a severe autoimmune condition landed him in the hospital. He lost 36 pounds in three weeks, and he was told his strength training days were over. He went back to the science of exercise physiology, biomechanics, nutrition and recovery, rebuilt his body again, and returned to lifting carrying more muscle than ever.

Those experiences created a perspective that cannot be learned from a certification or a textbook alone.

For more than two decades he has studied strength, biomechanics, movement, rehabilitation, nutrition, body composition and human performance, and he holds a degree in kinesiology. He has coached doctors, attorneys, business owners and executives; professional cheerleaders and dancers from NFL and NBA teams; women navigating menopause and PCOS; and clients rebuilding after serious injuries and neurological conditions, including West Nile virus paralysis.

His approach is highly individual. There are no generic workouts and no one-size-fits-all programs. Training is designed around the person in front of him: their history, their movement, their limitations, their goals, and the life they want their body to support.

He has worked as a personal trainer in Orange County since 2002, founded The LOOK Fitness in 2012, and coaches out of the Newport Beach/Irvine studio today. The LOOK was built around a simple standard: exceptional coaching, intelligent programming, and an extraordinary level of personal attention. Because great training should never feel generic.

Knowing how to build your own body is a different skill from knowing how to build someone else's

Most gyms, and plenty of private studios, hire a trainer because they passed a certification and look the part. That tells you what they can do for themselves. It tells you nothing about what they can do for you.

Your physiology is different. So are your biomechanics, your injury history and your schedule. A program that ignores all of that isn't a program, it's the trainer's own workout handed to someone else, with the hour filled by conversation. They might be good company. You came for results.

At these prices you should get a prescription rather than a routine. That means a full-body composition scan and a movement assessment before anything is written, a plan built from what those show, and the same numbers re-checked as you go so you can see whether it's working.
